Brad Bacom

Brad spent most of his adult life in law enforcement in Orange County, working in various assignments for the Sheriff’s Department, the Vidor Police Department, the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office and the Bridge City Police Department.  When he left law enforcement in 2004, he held an Intermediate Certificate.

He has served as a jailer, patrol officer, patrol sergeant, investigator and Captain/Jail Administrator.

Brad worked as a private investigator in college in the late 60’s then again in the mid 80’s.  He returned to private investigation work in May, 1990 when he left full time law enforcement and went to work as an investigator for an insurance adjusting company.  Brad opened his own business in December 1995 and still work in that capacity.  He is the owner of Bacom Investigation Service.  His total experience in the Private Investigation profession is about 28 years.

Brad attended Lamar University part time in the 70’s and 80’s and accumulated about 70 hours in Criminal Justice.  He has attended a variety of law enforcement continuing education classes approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and education totaling 1,000 hours or more.  He has attended approximately 650 hours of continuing education as a licensed private investigator.

Brad joined the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators in 1996 and was elected treasurer in 1997.  He served as treasurer for five years then was elected president.  He served as President for about two and a half years when he resigned.  He is currently serving as chairman if the President’s Advisory Committee, a committee of past presidents who advise the current president.  Brad spent 5 years as President of the Sabine Neches Claims Association in Beaumont.

In 1998 Brad became a Texas Certified Investigator through TALI--a designation that requires extensive testing, development of a white paper, etc.  There are currently 43 Texas Certified Investigators in Texas, a state with about 5,000 licensed or registered investigators.

Brad is also a member of the Association of Christian Investigators.

Until Brad relocated to Friendswood as a result of Hurricane Ike, he served as an adjunct professor at Lamar Institute of Technology teaching a course on basic private investigation as part of their Homeland Security department.

Brad has written a variety articles for professional publications, both statewide and nationwide.  He has been a guest lecturer at investigators’ conferences and has spoken all across Texas as well as at a national convention in New Orleans, La., and a statewide convention in Portland, Oregon.
